The Membership Sales and Service team provides exemplary service. As a member of the team, you will demonstrate the benefits of the YMCA through excellent communication skills and your dynamic personality.  You have good computer skills and a willingness to take initiative.


Key responsibilities

  • Continuous relationship building with members, volunteers, visitors, and the community. Welcome and greet all visitors by phone and in-person, provide tours of the facility, and information about programs and services.
  • Use, monitor and manage a database of members, programs, bookings etc.
  • Accurate cash handling, including registration and NSF payments, point of sale purchases, rentals, Strong Kids donations etc. Discuss overdue accounts with members and collect fees.
  • Model best practices and exhibit the highest level of service delivery consistent with S.A.M. standards, including the 7 steps to selling procedures, renewal and retention practices, and handling complaints and concerns in a professional manner.
  • Knowledgeable about programs, and demonstrate and promote the mission, vision, and values of the YMCA.
  • Complete accident/incident reports, assist with emergency situations, and complete general tidying, filing, and housekeeping duties in the membership area.
  • Ensure administration duties are accurately and effectively completed.
  • Responsible for filling all scheduled shifts and finding coverage in case of sickness.
  • Special projects as required.

  • Customer service and sales experience
  • Intermediate computer skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Up-to-date criminal record check and child abuse registry check

  • knowledge of design programs


This part-time position requires you to be available for a variety of shifts - morning, afternoon, evening and on the weekend. Hours and shifts may vary.

The YMCA of Pictou County is currently accepting applications for lifeguards and swimming instructors.


Applicants must have

  • Current NLS
  • Current YMCA Instructor Course or
  • WSI (Water Safety Instructor)
  • LSI instructor an asset

Successful applicants will be required to undergo a criminal records check and child abuse registry screening.
