Position:               Membership Marketing and Communications Manager



Situation:
 

With a budget of $1.5 million the YMCA of Pictou County serves over 10,000 members in its Health, Fitness and Recreation facility.  We offer a variety of programs and services including; Membership, Aquatic Leadership Programs, Rehabilitation, Health Fitness and Wellness, Sports and Leadership Programs, Youth Oriented Community Programs, and a full day licensed Child Care Centre.

 

Nature and Scope:

This is one of six management positions requiring superior judgment, discretion, confidentiality, experience, vision and general management abilities.  Senior managers help shape the vision, policies and procedures of the YMCA of Pictou County.  The position is considered an integral component to helping build strong communities in a safe, efficient and welcoming environment.  The manager ensures the sound management of all areas that concern a members experience; including staffing, programming, budgeting, planning, orientating and supervising. The Membership Marketing Communications Manager leads and supports the Association’s marketing and communications plan as it relates to the strategic plan of the YMCA of Pictou County.  Key audiences for this role include our current and future members, volunteer and staff teams, as well as participants and donors.  Priorities include new member acquisition and retention.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Implements marketing and communication activities that support the Association’s strategic priorities.
  • Establishes processes to integrate marketing and communications activities to find efficiencies, increase quality and effectiveness and maximize our marketing spend.
  • Writes and edits content for member and participant marketing and communication materials including e-newsletters, website, and promotional materials.
  • Manages website content to ensure relevancy and accuracy.
  • Manages the production of on line and off line marketing and communication materials for programs and events.
  • Maximizes opportunities to integrate and cross promote to multiple audiences.
  • Executes social media tactics related to operating plan.
  • Produces marketing and communications collateral for Association Team
  •  Maximizes member and participant engagement by leveraging cross promotional opportunities (programs, services, events, fundraising campaigns, advocacy, etc.)
  • Provides brand leadership to ensure brand behavior, graphic standards and messaging are used consistently to build YMCA brand.

 

  • Maximizes internal communication channels to support increased employee and volunteer engagement throughout the association.
  •  In collaboration with association senior management team develops success measurement and tracking systems to inform overall membership promotion, acquisition and retention strategies.
  • Provide and role model the highest quality customer service to all people utilizing our facility.
  • Provide leadership, support, mentoring and training for Member Service Representatives.
  • Develops, implements and maintains the Membership department budget.
  • Participate on duty manager rotations on a scheduled basis
  •  Other duties assigned by association

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Degree in marketing, communications or related field
  •  Minimum of 3-5 years of related work experience, preferably a charity
  •  Solid business and promotional writing skills
  •  Practical experience writing for the web and using social media
  •  Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
  •  Proficiency with Adobe Creative suite an asset.
  •  Ability to take initiative, multi-task and remain results focused in a high demand environment
  •  Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  •  Collaborative with strong presentation and public speaking skills.
  •  Excellent team skills, but self-motivated.
  •  Customer service and sales experience
  •  Customer focused positive attitude and willingness to learn new skills.
